HeliSupport is owned by brothers Kelly and Jason Buick,
who have been in the aviation industry for over 30 years.
Although beginning their aircraft engineering training in New Zealand, they both completed their qualifications in their native country, Canada, where Kelly also trained as a helicopter pilot. They returned to New Zealand where Kelly worked as both a pilot and an aircraft engineer, and Jason as an aircraft engineer on the West Coast and then in Queenstown.
Combining both the brother's talents and passion in the aviation industry, they sought to improve upon the engineering service in the tourism town. An opportunity arose to begin their own business when equipment became available for purchase from an engineering company that had ceased operations.
In 2004, HeliSupport New Zealand was created, offering maintenance for the many operators in the area.
Eventually outgrowing their space in Queenstown, Kelly and Jason relocated the business to the neighboring town of Wanaka.
Wanaka Airport provided HeliSupport with the ability to expand. The quality service and support the brothers provided kept their customer base growing despite their relocation.
Heli Support is now maintaining over 50 helicopters from operators in Queenstown, Wanaka, Te Anau, Mt Cook, and Fox Glacier.
The company’s capabilities have grown to include aircraft and part sales, refinishing, avionics, training, leasing, engine and dynamic components work. HeliSupport is a certified maintenance centre for Safran Helicopter Engines and Airbus Helicopters and is CAA Part 145 Approved.
